Weston Ladies took on newly promoted Huntspill & District at Devonshire Road and with runs hard to come by for the visitors Ho (2-5) clean bowled the opener Quick in the third over.

Counsell anchored the innings for Huntspill and supported Hockey well who top scored for Huntspill with 19. However, a flurry of wickets turned the tide in Weston’s favour thanks to some exceptional fielding from Erin Davidson (1-16) and Charlotte Hogarth (1-2). Jasmine Sweeting on debut also supported well taking 1-23. Extras helped, but Huntspill closed their innings on 75-7, which based on current batting form should have been an easy chase.

Weston’s reply stuttered as Erin Davidson was run out, and second debutant Izzy Watson followed shortly after. In form batter Ho built a great partnership with Sweeting before Sweeting departed with the score on 48. Batting was hard in the heat, but Filer signalled her intent dispatching her first ball to the boundary. With the game in the balance, Filer played well and Jane Watson supported well to see Weston home to victory 6 wickets down and with just 3 balls to spare.
