WSMCC Welcomes Nick Evans as Chair

Nicola Clarke12 Mar - 09:44

Meet our new Club Chair

I am honoured to have been chosen to represent Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club as the new Chair and I should like to introduce myself for those who do not know me. I hope to be able to serve both you and the club to the best of my ability.

I have been a member of Weston-super-Mare cricket club for over 50 years man and boy, and have served on committee and been club coach twice. I have played for all the elevens making my debut at 13 for the 4ths (Eaglets) and my 1st eleven debut at 14. I joined the Lords Ground Staff (MCC young pros) before returning to the west and represented both Somerset and Glamorgan County Cricket Clubs at first class level, finally returning to Weston to finish my playing days with our 1st eleven.

After retiring from the professional game I went on to have a long career in sales and marketing with various companies before retiring 3 years ago.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jon Mayo for all his hard work in putting the club in the position it now finds its self in (you can put your feet up a bit now Jon). Also big thanks to Nic Clarke for stepping into the role of Vice Chair, I am sure she will be a huge help, and to Paul Fleming, Sam Curley, Andrew Fear and all the other people who have helped to date I hope that will continue. I would also like to welcome Colin Golland to the role of Secretary I am sure he will do a great job.

I have always had a passion for the club and believe this to be an opportunity to help take the club forward to the next chapter. I hope you will all find me approachable and easy to get along with and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you at some stage over the coming months, so please come and say hello!
