WsMCC are delighted to announce that club legend Rob Turner has taken up the role of 1st XI Head Coach for the 2023 season.
Rob will work closely with 1st XI Captain Chris Davidson and Cricket and Coaching Development Manager Paul Bird to implement improved coaching plans at 1st XI training sessions, and ensure the whole club continues to develop and improve across the season and beyond. He will also continue to be a valuable member of the 1st XI squad as a player, continuing to set high standards as a wicket keeper and batsman.
1st XI Captain Chris Davidson is delighted to have Rob involved:
“As one of the best players the club has ever produced, we always want Rob to be involved in any capacity. So to have him heavily involved in 1st XI training and match days is brillant, and kudos to him that he continues to want to give back to the club, as he already has for a number of years. I know he’s also coaching the Under 11’s as well, so working with the current and future players of the club, who will all benefit from his ideas and experiences as a Somerset CCC Hall of Famer. He spoke brilliantly at the recent Players Meeting about his memories of the club from his younger days and how it helped him establish a professional career, and I know he’s determined to ensure the club continues to go from strength to strength.
Rob is excited about the role:
“There’s so much positivity around the club at the moment, with the addition of Paul Bird bringing a new professionalism to coaching, and new signings incoming as well. I’m really excited to be involved in this new capacity. We’ve got some excellent players in and around the 1st XI squad, and I hope I can help them improve during training sessions and on match days.”
WsMCC are delighted that Rob will continue to be involved in the club for 2023 and beyond.
