Womens teams season up and running

The womens teams got their season started on Saturday with a fun day of hardball and softball action

The womens team got their season started on Saturday with a day long event at Somerset’s indoor
school, playing softball and hardball tournaments across the day. The 9 player squad travelled to Taunton in the morning and played the softball tournament first, beating 5 other teams along the way to a finals loss to Staplegrove CC. In the afternoon, the team also competed in a 3 team hardball tournament, coming out as winners, beating Staplegrove and Wembdon to cap off a great day.

The squad consisted of: Julie Mayo, Esther Smith, Michelle Ho, Jodie Filer, Elaine Filer, Diane Davidson, Aimee Davidson, Georgia Tulip, Bobbie-Lee Kingston and Liberte Rosser.

Massive thanks to Somerset Cricket Board and the Western Storm, especially Sophie Luff and Steve Gass, for organising and running a fantastic day of cricketing fun.

The womens team train on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons, and have loads of softball and hardball fixtures across the season. We are always looking for new players to join our team – no experience of cricket is needed at all, just come along and give it a go!
