Club receives renewed Clubmark accreditation

We are delighted to announce we have received our Clubmark status renewal from the ECB. All WEPL clubs are going through the process this season, it’s a large amount of work and validates our commitment is to being a safe, welcoming well run club.

‘I’m sure all members would like to join me in thanking Youth Chairman Darren Smith who has headed up the project and Club Welfare Officer Julie Mayo for the huge amount of volunteer time dedicated to getting Clubmark renewed ’  Jon – Chairman

This accreditation means that the club:

  • Ensures that all members of the club involved in youth coaching, senior team captaincy, match scoring and other senior positions hold appropriate qualifications and certifications, such as DBS checks and coaching qualifications.
  • Ensures that a robust system is in place to deal with complaints and to protect all playing members of the club, especially youth players, through our Club Welfare Officer.
  • Is sustainable on and off the pitch, with plans for long term security both financially and on the pitch.
  • Continues to qualify for potential funding of new projects through grants and other means, such as the new scoreboard and lighting in the indoor hall.
  • Is marked out as somewhere where people young and old can safely enjoy their cricket, where people can improve themselves and their sport, and somewhere where parents can feel safe and confident in bringing their child to improve themselves and achieve.

It’s vital that we maintain our high standards to continue to meet the Clubmark guidelines in all areas now and in the future. Failure to meet Clubmark standards would mean that very little cricket would be allowed to take place at the club, especially womens and girls cricket, and at 1st team level through loss of WEPL status.

Without the hard work of our volunteers, the club simply would not exist, so please make time to consider if you would like to become more involved with the club. We always need volunteers for admin duties, ground work and in the youth section, so please get in touch.
