Captaincy roles have been finalised for all our senior teams ahead of the start of the season
The 1st XI will again be led by ex Somerset keeper/batsman Rob Turner, who starts his second season in charge having achieved promotion in 2017. Turner will be supported once again by Weston stalwart Andy Fear.
The 2nd XI will be led by a new captaincy duo, with 3rd team skipper Dom Mayo moving up to the lead the team. Batsman Luke Morgan will be the vice captain as the team look to push on after a fourth place finish in 2017.
With Dom Mayo moving up to the 2nd XI, wicket keeper Josh Knight will be taking on the reigns of the 3rd team, who find themselves in Division 5 this season after promotion in 2017. He will be assisted by brother Matt.
After a solid 3rd place finish in 2017, the 4th XI will again be led by Dave Howes. They have moved up a division after the 5th XI entered the league system, so find themselves in Division 7N. Chris Pack will again act as vice captain.
The 5th XI start their inaugural season in league cricket under the captaincy of Paul Fleming, who will act as a guide for the young players in the squad as they experience their first taste of competitive league cricket.
This season also sees the reintroduction of a hardball women’s team to the club, with the aim of giving our talented female players the chance to play in their own team in addition to playing in the senior Saturday elevens. Fixtures have been organised for Sundays across the summer, and the team will be captained by Michelle Ho. There are also more women’s softball festivals organised this season after a successful time in 2017, with the first scheduled for Saturday, 24th March and continuing throughout the season. They will be captained by Julie Mayo.
Lots to look forward to at WSMCC as the season draws nearer!
