We are sad to hear the passing of Honorary Life Member Malcolm Moore, former Chairman, Secretary, life member, captain and volunteer he was instrumental in running the club for many years.
Malcolm captained the 3rds, 4ths and also the mid-week team for many years hosting countless touring sides and always giving the youngsters a go in these evening games. An imposing figure he played cricket with a competitive edge; woe betide a miss filed off his bowling. Malcolm was a miserly bowler and his spells bowling straight through for not much were well known! Despite his tough attitude on the field, he was a lovely chap who gave many years to the club, lots of current members who were youth players at the time would have played some of their first senior games under Malcolm`s captaincy.
Vice Chairman Martyn Chambers remembers him as a local teacher, very clever and whip smart, the tale goes the club had to remove the quiz machine as Malcolm cleaned it out every week!
A true clubman Malcolm did countless jobs at the club over the years, not least as Chairman. Malcolm was awarded Honorary Life Membershio for his service to the club. Sadly long-term illness did not allow him to be around in later years but lots of members will fondly remember Malcolm.
WsMCC would like to pass on our condolences to friends and family of Malcolm at this sad time, gone but certainly not forgotten.
