2019 in review - Womens Section


Womens section had another succesfull season, winning softball tournaments and cups, as well as bringing new members and players into the club


The year started excellently, with success in the Indoor Cup in January. Bobbi and Aimee combined to score 49 runs in just 4 overs, whilst Georgia took 4 wickets to help them secure the trophy - a great start to the year!

Four of the clubs senior womens players, Lauren Filer, Jodie Filer, Georgia Tulip and Hannah Capes, all represented Somerset this season. They helped Somerset gain promotion from Divison 2 in the T20 format, with Lauren even going on to feature for South West RDC and field for Western Storm. Holly McLaughlin (U15) and Alice Bird (U13) also featured for Somerset from the youth section.

Weston hosted the SCB softball tournament in May, with 6 teams coming to the club to take part in games all day. Thanks to great weather and great support for all the clubs, it was a great day. Weston finished runners up on the day, losing to a very competitive Midsomer Norton team on the day.

The womens team entered winter by winning the North league indoor competition, a great effort by the whole team. The team has been lead excellently by Michelle all year, who has displayed great enthusiasm in the role and has helped move the womens secton forward into an exciting 2020.
