Appearance milestone reached by senior Weston players

Weston 1st XI captains past and present Rob Turner and Chris Davidson both recently reached 100 league appearances for the club

Chris joined the club in 2012 from local club Uphill Castle, and quickly established himself in the 1st XI with some excellent contributions with both bat and ball. Captaining the 1st XI between 2013 and 2016, he led the team to promotion in 2013 and to Somerset Major Cup success in 2014. He continues to contribute with bat and ball to the 1st XI’s excellent start to the 2018 league season, and is a popular and committed member of the club on and off the pitch.

1st XI Captain Rob Turner

Current 1st XI captain Rob took up the captaincy from Chris in time for the 2017 season, and quickly achieved promotion at the first time of asking. He represented Somerset for almost 20 years and in over 400 games, becoming a legend at the Taunton club, leading to him being included in the Hall of Fame in 2017. Unlucky to never receive full international honours despite several excellent seasons with bat and gloves, he did at least represent England ‘A’ in the 1999-2000 season. Under Rob’s leadership, the 1st XI have only tasted defeat three times in league cricket, and he has shown real leadership and professionalism on and off the pitch.
